English might be benefit but not in all situations.

Actually I’m partially agree with this statement (With English, you'll feel powerful, in control of your life and happy. People will admire and respect you.) Because not all countries admire people who speak English as a second language. In some countries people admire there own language. Atypical example for this situation is France where French people are very proud to their language. Moreover, people who think that English is very important for jobs, not all jobs require English language qualification; we can see many people can be happy and powerful while they speak only one language. We can’t over generalized this issue although it could bring a significant benefits and secure people future.

Week three reflection:
We have finished week three of level 7, it was very very busy week because we did many works and we practiced all English skills in the class.  We practiced writing several times prior to the exam but when we did the writing exam; It was not complex article because already our teacher “Carla” discussed it with us before we start writing, I could not mange my time during writing I really surprised when Carla said 10 min left. I will try to time myself before the final exam.
At Thursday we did ‘CAT’ reading exam but I noticed that the questions style was different compared to what we practiced in the class, it was like E6 style.
On Friday, we discussed some important points we should avoid using them in our oral presentation and we watched funnnnny videos with “Daneilla”. She really Clearfield the guidelines for the oral presentation.
Everything now is clear about oral presentation we have to practice very well before Wednesday (( good luck to all my class mates)).

Teacher speak: A need for speed??

Subject: Teacher speak

This is a good discussion point and "in my opinion the best way for speaking as a native speaker is that when the teacher separate the words at the beginning and then speed up” Because students need to know the foundations of the language first. Moreover, teachers should speak clearly and then as time goes on, a teacher naturally speeds up his or her speaking speed and students will used that.
If the students used to hear slow speech at English school, they might have a big shock if they get to try their English in real-world ((outside the classroom)).
So, one advantage of speeding up the speech in the class daily is that they practicing spoken English the way that natives use it and this is useful for us as an overseas student to understand the native taxi driver or the waiter in restaurant for example.

Week two reflection:

This week was exciting, I really was worried about the second week but actually it was more organized we have done a great achievement with my lovely teachers. Let me tell you something about it. This week I have learned more about how we can write a critical respond and focused on the important points to improve our writing step by step. I really want to mention to this point when i and some of my friends got our essays we really surprised when we saw a lot of comments in purple pen, but when we read these comments it is really useful and interesting some time because they use some words (great intro..., perfect, well done ...and so on) and that encourage us to do better on the next time. Clearly that" Carla and Daniella spent a long time to correct our essays “many thanks to them "and as Abdulla said we are in skillful Hands.

Moreover, during this week we have discussed one issue that (every one who can, should learn English) through the discussion board, I think the discussion board is a good tool to use for an online course. It was nice to post a message and have someone respond.

What are your thoughts, E7?
Hi Carla
I’m Rema and I agree with this situation ‘every one who has ability to learn he should learn English’ for several reasons firstly, if he/she has enough financial support for example, learning English as second language is an important to ensure his/her future. It is may also increase your chances of finding a better job. Another reason is that in recent time English language is become a global language so we need to contact with other around the world and to success in our life.

Writing strategies for week2

  • I want to improve my academic writing, therefore spilling and grammar mistakes should be reduced .
  • I need to enhance my vocabulary by looking to all new words every day and try to use them.
  • Reading more article and try to extract the main idea and find the argument
  • Practise analysing the argument by reading some sample essays and study the stricture well.
